Work experience as a German student

Hello!

I've recently decided to pursue German with the ultimate goal of translation.

I would like to know if you have any tips about what to do to gain some experience even as I learn the language. I know I'm nowhere close to knowing even a majority of the language, but I'd like to get started to have something for a future resumé.
